Personal Power

One of the greatest questions that constantly crosses my mind in life is this – “Right now, what is it that I can do that will really make a difference?” Sure, we can work and pay our bills. Noted. Sure, we can help friends and family with their needs and desires. Noted. Sure, we can study and learn many things. Noted. Sure, we can travel and learn about the world around us and become more cultured. Noted. However, at the spiritual and existential level, what is it that we can do that will positively help humanity and our world in a great and cosmic way? The answer is this: chant OM and meditate on OM. Countless self-realized yogis and rishis like Swami Sivananda, Swami Sri Yukteswar, Paramahansa Yogananada, Shiva Bala Yogi, Shiva Rudra Bala Yogi, Babaji, Christ, Krishna, Buddha, and Kabir will confirm that the greatest name of our Divine Source (God, Brahman) is “OM”. So, when you chant OM or meditate on OM, you are connecting with your Divine Source and also indirectly helping other living beings to also connect to their divine source. Sivananda writes in his books “Meditation on OM” and “Moksha Gita” that the true reality is Divine Spirit (OM) and all things we experience in the realms of body and mind are transitional and temporal. So, we cannot hold on to anything, technically, in these realms of sense-perception (touch) and mind-perception (thought). Sure, for a short while things, people, and thoughts can be in our lives, but they will dissipate over time. All physical things decay, even our bodies. Thoughts also come and go. So, what remains? What truly is? The answer is Divine Spirit (Brahman) and we can connect with God/Brahman through the Sacred Syllable OM chant, prayer, and meditation. This is our true personal power. Stay humble. Chant and meditate on OM. Namaste, Keith

“Brahman (Divine Spirit) is the Highest. OM is His Name.” – Swami Sivananda
