Community

Happy Friday Omyoga Blog followers, subscribers, and visitors: I appreciate your visit! Today I would like to shed some light on the idea of community. Of course, for those of you who are truly aware, the word community has OM in it. Coincidence? I think not. When you understand that “all this is OM” as the Mandukya Upanishad asserts and as countless realized yogis have asserted, then you see that community is truly possible. It is not necessary for all of us to be at the same point spiritually in our journey. Rather, we need to accept one another simply based on the spiritual fact that there is only the One Spiritual Self (Brahman in Sanskrit, Adi-Purusha in Hinduism, Adi-Buddha in Buddhism, God the Father in Christianity, and Adonai in Judaism). How can we know this? Just look at the ocean. There are countless waves. Those waves are like human, animal, and aquatic lives. They come out of the ocean and last for some time. But, eventually they return to the ocean, just as we all will return to the One Universal and Cosmic Self. Community is a positive and proactive concept and way of living. One of my neighbors is originally from Cuba. Another neighbor is from Jamaica. Finally, another is from the Dominican Republic. I am from the good-old USA and yet we are all happy neighbors. We get along and we enjoy saying hello when we are outside of the house. Community matters. Community is a starting point from which unlimited growth is possible. With this attitude and outlook, peace is the result, and with peace, all good things ensue – health, prosperity, love, compassion, and the list goes on. Namaste, Keith
