In the Bible (New Testament, Book of John, 4:24), Jesus tells us that “God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.” What exactly does this mean? According to the late and great Swami Sivananda, “God (Brahman, in Sanskrit) is the Highest, and ‘OM’ is His Name (Meditation on OM).” So, as we chant OM, meditate on OM and contemplate the Sacred Syllable OM sound, we are verily worshiping God in both Truth and Spirit. As human beings, we, many times, want God to be a person like us. Well, due to this desire and need, God comes to the human race from time to time as an avatar (as great personalities like Krishna, Buddha, and Christ). Still, we must awaken to the fact that God (Brahman, in Sanskrit) is Divine Spirit, transcending human form and human limitation. Namaste, Keith
