The reason I chant OM and use OM as my central daily prayer is simple: all prayers are included in OM. As one prays, one addresses concerns that one has. Still, there are many things that we do not know about and that we do not understand. OM is a prayer that covers and addresses all prayers and concerns, known and unknown. That is the greatness of OM. Swami Sivananda calls OM “the matrix of all prayer.” So, the very essence of all prayers in all languages, for all positive and loving intentions, can be found and traced back to the original Sacred Syllable OM invocation, mantra, prayer, meditation, and contemplation. OM honors all aspects of God, known, unknown, seen, unseen, with form and beyond form.
